COLUMBUS (AP) — Ohio has become the first state to adopt a procedure for lethal injections that uses one drug, a method never before tried on U.S. inmates.
The state filed papers today in U.S. District Court saying it has decided to switch from a three-drug cocktail to a single injection of thiopental sodium into a vein. A muscle injection will be available as a backup.
The decision comes two months after an Ohio death row inmate walked away from an unsuccessful execution and subsequent executions were put on hold.
Several states have faced similar challenges, but Ohio is the first to drop the three-drug approach in favor of one dose. The Death Penalty Information Center says it’s never been attempted on humans.

Rope is cheaper. With the "green movement", it should be preferred because it's reusable.
One "drug", three or twenty-seven, most executions in Ohio never happen anyway. After they appeal the appeal after another appeal, a good twenty years passes...Biros and Hill ought to be ready for Old age benefits soon....
I say we try lead poisoning
one shot is good enough with good aim
wow
In 1996 Georgia state legislator Doug Teper proposed the guillotine as a replacement for the electric chair as the state's method of execution to enable the convicts to act as organ donors.
Not a bad idea, Stan. Definitely merciful (even if more so than deserved).
Finally, some of the death row scum will be dispatched.
I feel if any of them are displeased with the new method, they should be given the same that they gave their victims.
PS; Stan, an awfully large % of them have Hep C, maybe AID's or HIV, or some other disease and wouldn't qualify as donors.
