Poll shows Ohioans disapprove of Obama's handling of heath care, economy

Published: Thu, November 12, 2009 @ 11:15 a.m.

COLUMBUS — Ohioans disapprove of President Barack Obama’s work in office and his handling of the economy and health care reform.

That’s according to the latest poll by the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute.

In a survey conducted over the past week of 1,123 Ohio voters, 50 percent said they disapproved of how the president was doing his job, up from 42 percent in September.

A total of 53 percent disapprove of the way he’s handling the economy and 57 percent disapprove of his handling of health care.

In Russia you virtually never see people laughing, smiling, or just enjoying themselves...people seem to walk slightly bent over, their eyes always averting a stranger..there is overwhelming, a sense of oppression and depression...

Russia has government run health care.

You been to Russia candystriper? How about France, who also has a mix of government run and private and has the best in the world? I know Russians who love their health care system and wish America's was as good and covered everyone. We're going to get reform alright. But not the reform we need thanks to the lobbying of the health care and drug companies. They will successfully kill any meaningful reform to protect their profits and that's why Obama is losing support.

In France a doctor makes between 75,000 - 100,000 euro a year. Canada's health system is falling apart. I see a real surge for the youth in this country, with going to school for 8 years and who knows how it's being paid for, going into the health care field when they can make almost as much guarding a Canfield school as reported by the Vindy.

I have family in the north of Ireland who are on England's health care system. While it's great they don't have to pay for prescriptions, etc., they do wait weeks, even months, to see a doctor.
I'm sick today, went to see my family doctor and filled my prescription. The whole process took about an hour. If we were on the national health plan, I'd probably see my doctor sometime next week, at which point the lung infection I have could have progressed to something far more serious. While I agree my health insurance through my employer is a bit expensive, I'll take that over any national health plan.

It's completely false that you wait weeks and months to see doctors in countries with universal health care. Try getting an appointment with a doctor from the Orthopedic center in Boardman. At least 3 months. By then, your back problem cures itself. The fact is we can't afford the current system and it will bankrupt the country. Insurance and drug companies are fighting to keep their nice little scams going. We pay 16% of GDP, countries with better systems that provide better outcomes are paying 10% or less. Either reform happens or more and more employers are going to drop coverage or increase the employees out of pocket costs. It's happening now.
