Polish Christmas traditions will be taught at Wigilia

Published: Thu, November 12, 2009 @ 4:17 a.m.

CAMPBELL — The artistry of Wigilia: A Polish Christmas Traditions Workshop and Celebration, will take place from 1-5 p.m. Saturday at St. Joseph the Provider Church, 633 Porter Ave.

The Krakowiaki Polish Folk Circle is hosting this fundraiser as an entertaining way of teaching Mahoning Valley residents of Polish ancestry holiday traditions they can create, implement and adopt with ease.

Some of the features are Polish Kitchen: serving tasty, traditional and Christmas Eve foods; Polish Bakery: with homemade baked goods; Polish Marketplace, with gift items, decorating kits, holiday ornaments and icons; and Lessons and Workshops throughout the afternoon, including oplatek wafer making, dessert creations and ornaments.

There will be folk dancers at 2:30 p.m., and fold art being created on site from 1-5 p.m.

For more information, call Aundrea Cika Heschmeyer, Krakowiaki director, at (330) 646-4082 or e-mail her at aundrea@polishyoungstown.com.
