YOUNGSTOWN — Police are investigating a Monday evening confrontation in which a 15-year-old Austintown girl was hit in the head by a bullet.
The four occupants of a car, including the victim, Kaitlin E. Chambers, of Kirk Road, and her father, Eric S. Chambers, 51, told police their car was at Mahoning and Belle Vista avenues, when two motorcyclists fired on the car at 10:18 p.m.
The car fled to Fire Station No. 15 at McCollum Road and Schenley Avenue, where police interviewed the victims and noticed the car’s shattered rear window.
When one of the suspects came to the fire station, police said they chased the motorcycle he was riding through Youngstown, Boardman and Austintown and back to the city’s West Side, where they lost sight of it.
A slug, possibly from a .38-caliber bullet, was removed from Kaitlin’s head at St. Elizabeth Health Center’s Austintown emergency room and held by police as evidence. Police said her injury appeared minor.
The police report lists names and possible addresses for the suspects in Mineral Ridge, Campbell and Youngstown but not any motive for the shooting or any arrests.

Thank God the girl and her family are alright. This is another senseless act of violence which residents of the North, East, and South sides have come to live with and now welcome to their world West side.
Drennen is a joke as a 5th Ward councilman - and I could site many circumstances why - So lets see what the 4th and 5th ward councilman have to say about this incident. Beam Me Up! I hope the Vindy keeps track of this story as it seems a senseless act of viloence.
I wonder if any video security cameras from any of the gas stations in that area caught any of the action on tape thereby aiding any investigations.
