New day for Night Ranger

Published: Thu, November 5, 2009 @ 12:00 a.m.

Formed in the early ’80s, Night Ranger built a career on some instantly recognizable tunes such as “Sister Christian,” “Don’t Tell Me You Love Me,” “When You Close Your Eyes” and “[You Can Still]Rock In America.”

In July, the band marked its silver anniversary with the release of its first album in a decade, “Hole in the Sun,” its eighth studio release.

A worldwide summer tour followed with Journey, which included a stop in Guatanamo Bay, Cuba, to play for U.S. troops.

Night Ranger, which will open Saturday’s Styx-REO Speedwagon concert at Covelli Centre, consists of original members Jack Blades (bass/vocals), Brad Gillis (guitars/vocals) and Kelly Keagy (drums/vocals), plus guitarist Joel Hoekstra (who is also the guitarist for the Broadway show “Rock of Ages”) and keyboardist Christian Cullen.
