YOUNGSTOWN — Two men were arrested and charges are pending on multiple others after the Mahoning Valley Law Enforcement Task Force raided a city business for reported drug trafficking and gambling offenses.
The task force arrived at the Riverbend Tavern, located at 1105 Poland Ave., shortly before 6 p.m. today and confiscated suspected drugs and video gambling machines from the business, said Lt. Robin Lees, task force commander.
Larry Meenachan, 58, of Struthers, and John Messer, 59, of Austintown were arrested on gambling offenses, Lees said. Lees said the two are operators of the establishment.
Two other individuals were arrested on drug offenses and released, and two more individuals have felony drug offense charges pending, Lees said.

Business as usual in Y-town. I guess they didn't make their monthly protection payment.
Nearly all of the bars on Poland Ave. are a front for one illegal activity or another. Look at that area, its demographics and economics, and ask yourself "how could any bar NOT engaging in illegal activity survive here?"
The "magnifying glass" needs to be used on the bars on South Ave. as well.
