Unofficial final results from the Mahoning County Board of Elections show
incumbent trustees Robyn Gallitto and Kathy Miller have been soundly
defeated by Brad Calhoun and Thomas Costello.

It doesn't matter. Bankruptcy is just around the corner. Costello was on WFMJ and all he could talk about was spending another 200,000 to get CALEA certified again so that they can save $50 in insurance premiums. Good luck Boardman residents, you'll need it. Get ready for the first levy in February.
FINALLY!! It's about time Boardman voters woke up and figured out that The Girlz needed to go and that time was long, long overdue. So, can the voters now look forward and encourage progress?
Mrs Miller honey, your time has come - You cannot list 1 single item you accomplished in 8 years of your employment with the Township. You did nothing for the community but collect a paycheck and piggy back on working employee's healthcare benefits. You gave nothing but lip service to the sheeple who were foolish enough to listen to you.
Ms. Gallitto, take your BS with you when you pack up your desk. You were a BS artist during your last campaign and thru your 1 and only term - I just wish those who voted for you prior had listened to us who knew BS when they saw it..usually everytime you opened your mouth. You've been nothing but an embarrassment from day one. From trying to change the rules to get your ex-husband that promotion he never deserved thru the public display of your laundry on the front yard of your home, to your unprofessional outburts during public meetings. The community has spoken - you were a loser from the beginning to today's end.
It's one thing when economics produces a job loss - it's an entirely different thing when the citizens you once served tell you they want you out.

Maybe Fred Davis has some other empty offices he can lease to the township for 2 1/2 times the going rate and we can open police substations all over the township. Costello seemed to like those useless substations. Perhaps Sonny Smith has some empty buildings for us too. Hey is Seditz available? Watch out Jason!
The republican leader created the problems 18 years ago he is the biggest problem in boardman and his rag paper is too. he made more money off of the township then u can imagine a total do nothing board in scarry larry, costello i take orders from elain, and a clueless school teacher. Yikes were in trouble in Boardom run for columbiana and fast.
bye the way, I have turned the Gop Party chair early this week into the state GOP for continueing to support democrats... get rid of this guy asap
I donno Apollo. I'm still waiting for those groomed medians and all those flowers to be planted around Boardman at taxpayer expense. Never saw those grand ideas produce - Oh wait, no one ever listed to poor Kooky. Poor, poor, Kooky..no one ever listed to her but her Sheeple.
Maybe since she knows so much about the declining real estate market she can get cheap rent and create a club house where she and the sheeple can sit meet and talk of all the things they want to do in Boardman, but accomplish none of it....just now she won't get a paycheck and bennies to do it.
Trouble in Boardman started with electing a laywer who made promises she couldn't keep, contracts she couldn't understand, and allowing her to bully the residents that elected her the first time. Trouble continued with re-electing a do-nothing woman who never had an idea that she would personally take to frutation. That's not 'working for the citizens'. If you can't get people to listen to you and your ideas after 8 years, then your ideas aren't worth listening to.
Nice to see the majority of citizens were smart enough not to be duped again.
I'm open minded enough to see that 2/3's of the Board has been replaced with new blood and hope for "Change" Boardman needs to be turned around as it's been heading in the wrong direction...

The best thing that ever happened to Boardman. The Township can begin going forward again and once again it may become "A nice place to live"

Going forward means fiscal emergency and bankruptcy. Costello started that drive into fiscal insanity years ago by never questioning Elaines "let the union employees" run the township philosophy. It's only appropriate that Tom gets to ride that final lap. It'll be fun to watch the state cut wages and benefits. Get ready citizens, the $200,000 CALEA is back saving us pennies, and levies galore will be the norm.
Speculation. Why is it that some people have to sit and speculate on what's going to happen in the future. If they have such power, and knowledge, then why was it that their name wasn't on the ballot? If they have all the answers, and know so much about everything, shouldn't be their duty to step in and Save Boardman?
Why claim to be some sort of "truth telling watch dog" but not want to personally fix the problems and have total control??
Please don't say it's because of one's employment, as I believe both new Board Members are employed as well.
It's nice to sit back and complain about what you see as wrong, but it's totally another to want to be a part of making change. Anyone who feels they know better and have better ideas and truly wanted to make Boardman a Better Place to Call Home should have at the very least put their name on the ballot - after all, look at Pat Laffy - I give him alot of credit for even trying which is nobel. He didnt sit back, he got in and tried.
Keep hiding behind the computer and pointing fingers - as Doctor Phil would ask "How's that working for ya"?
Congratulations to the voters....you've all showed good sense! Now for the winners....the meter is running. As far as I'm concerned, preform or you'll be next out the door. Enough of politicians claiming they want to work for the people and do little or nothing!

Not that Costello and Calhoun will be any better, but the housecleaning must continue.
The next few years will be just fine....you watch.
Leicht will find money and by November 2011, he will have led us out of this darkness to the promised land.

It'll be interesting to see just exactly what happens between now and Jan. 1, 2010.
Don't believe for a second the State will be "running the show" any time in the near or distant future. Boardman is close to financial disaster on appearance only. When the State looked at the books most recently, they only looked at the general fund. Yes, it's true. And Leicht, with the blessing or blind eyes of the trustees, has spent that fund down to the point it would and SHOULD make people nervous.
In reality, there's PLENTY of money thanks to the community supporting a safety forces levy. There's money in that fund, and according to the County, they've paid Boardman MORE MONEY THAN HAS BEEN ACCOUNTED FOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now that the voters have spoken and cleaned house, let's give the new team a chance. We might even see some leadership from Larry since he won't have the 2 witches to contend with.

When is Leicht up for re-election. It's time for him to go. Also, when will Jason be terminated for imcompetence. There must be someone else out there that can perform his job with some knowledge. Good luck Boardman with Costello, Calhoun, and Moliterno. Is this the best we can come up with????? If so, we are in deeper trouble than I thought. Hey Darnell, see if you can ask for some funds so that you can make your tabloid trash a real newspaper. I'm sure your buddy Costello will help you out.
Cabin wants me to run for office to fix Boardman. Sorry, I did that once already and saw how corrupt you need to be to get elected in this area. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me. I have no desire to run for elected office again. I saw how the anti Miller free spenders attacked her mercilessly for 8 years until finally the cabal won.
ubotherme thinks there is plenty of money. Wait until he/she faces the state running the show. If there is so much money, how come we almost made it into fiscal watch a few weeks ago? To quote a famous American, "missed it by that much"! We won't be so lucky next time and next time is right around the corner. Revenues and expenditures are not even close to being in balance. The circus has just started. I especially like the clowns.
