YOUNGSTOWN — Police are trying to determine how an SUV on the South Side was riddled with bullets, but are getting no help from the owner or those who may have witnessed the shooting.
According to police, officers received a call about gunfire in the 2000 block of South Avenue at 1:40 a.m. Tuesday. When officers arrived in the area they discovered shattered glass in the street and a fresh fluid trail from an automobile.
Police, according to reports, learned that a green 1998 Ford Expedition had been shot multiple times through the rear window, gas tank and engine. The truck was discovered in the 300 block of Hilton.
Police believe the owner of the car was driving it at the time of the shooting, but no owner or witness called police. Police said no one spoke to officers at the scene.

"but no owner or witness called police."

All I can say is, "What a Shame".... I grew up in that exact neighborhood in the 60's and it was a great place to live, safe, no one locked their doors to anything, everybody watched out for everyone else, you could ride your bike down south avenue at 9pm on any night and your parents didn't have to worry about you at all. It's too bad that they took over our neighborhood, we shouldn't have let them. Good luck to all that still live there.
