Federal prison in Pa. locked down after assault

Published: Mon, November 2, 2009 @ 8:55 a.m.

LEWSISBURG, Pa. (AP) — A federal prison in central Pennsylvania is locked down after officials say two inmates assaulted a staff member.

Officials at the federal penitentiary in Lewisburg say the staff member suffered puncture wounds in the back and other injuries.

Four officers also suffered minor injuries after they responded to the attack, which happened around 7:50 a.m. Sunday.

Prison spokesman Scott Finley did not say what type of weapon the inmates used. Other details of the attack have not been released.

Finley says the prison remains secure and is still locked down.

It looks like these two will be rewarded with an extended stay . They fought the law and the law won .

Just a comment about weapons...even in a maximum security prison, with all the security, rules, regulations and police, people still find a way to obtain weapons to injure or kill.

This proves that gun control or weapon control does not work. It only weakens the public's ability to protect themselves and provides better opportunities for the criminals.
