Surprise party honors Blazquezes’ 50th anniversary

COLUMBIANA — Mr. and Mrs. Louis Blazquez of Columbiana celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on Sept. 2 at Firestone Farm’s Clubhouse.

They were united in marriage Oct. 17, 1959, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Youngstown.

The event was a surprise party hosted by their son, Anthony Blazquez of Boardman, who welcomed family and friends of his parents. Featured at the event was a montage of the original wedding pictures.

A second reception took place Oct. 17 at T.J.’s at the Holiday Inn in Boardman.

Mr. Blazquez served in the U.S. Army and has been a self-employed barber for 50 years. His wife, the former Mary Lou Babbaro, is a retired hairdresser.

The couple are active parishioners of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Youngstown.
