Events featuring children have become increasingly popular.

CANFIELD -- Quarter horse riders came from as far away as Indiana for the chance to win cash and prizes.

The American Quarter Horse Association-approved show was one of four sets the Northern Ohio Quarter Horse Association sponsors each year.

The show started early Saturday at Canfield Fairgrounds with a Novice Extravaganza and culminated Sunday with an AQHA Introductory & Open show.

There were 375 entries in the novice show, and the open show boasted 450. Riders often enter more than one class, said Chris Cecil-Darnell, show secretary and NOQHA treasurer.
