YOUNGSTOWN — The Mahoning County commissioners have unanimously approved a resolution in support of retaining Frederick Dodge as a Chrysler dealership.
The bankrupt Chrysler recently told the Boardman dealership it would be among many slated to close as Chrysler tries to reduce the number of its dealerships nationwide.
Commissioner David N. Ludt, who moved for passage of the resolution Thursday, said Frederick employs 55 people and is the county’s top seller of Chrysler products.
The resolution will be sent to U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan, D-17th, of Niles, and President Barack Obama.
“Whenever they need our votes, they come to Mahoning County. We’re a very strong Democratic stronghold ... We need some attention, and we need some support in this area,” Ludt said.

Whenever you mix the private and public sector, a volatile cocktail is made. I understand Frederick employs 54+ people but this is setting precendent for going down a very slippery slope.
Apologies: "precedent"
aaannd they are doing this becaussse??????????????
I'm going to send a letter to Tim Ryan and Barack Obama that says I want a moratorium on all employment termination in Mahoning county for three years so we as a valley can get back on our feet. I'll probably get the same response.
