Originally Published: 11:58 p.m., May 15, 2009 and  Updated 11:46 p.m., May 16, 2009

The Mahoning County District Board of Health is offering rabies vaccinations for dogs, cats and ferrets from 1 to 4 p.m. May 23 at the Canfield Fire Department, 104 Lisbon St., Canfield; and from 1 to 4 p.m. May 30 at the Berlin Township Fire Department, 15081 W. Akron-Canfield Road in Berlin Township. There is a $4 charge, said Matthew Stefanak, county health commissioner.

No appointment is necessary for the shots, offered by the health department in cooperation with Animal Charity, the Mahoning County Dog Warden, Angels for Animals and volunteer veterinarians. Rabies vaccination of all dogs, cats and ferrets over 3 months old is required, said Stefanak.

The story has been fixed. Your cars will have to go elsewhere for vaccinations. :-)
