Penn State expects 106,000 students to apply this year
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) — Penn State University’s president says enrollment applications are arriving in record numbers in spite of what he called an uncertain year for college admissions nationally.
President Graham Spanier told school trustees Friday that applications are arriving at a clip that’s 6 percent ahead of last year’s pace. The university expects to receive 106,000 applications this year.
International undergraduate applications are up 35 percent, while applications to the Dickinson School of Law are up 50 percent.
Spanier says Penn State is on target to meet goals of 6,800 new students this summer and fall at the main campus in State College, and 8,200 new students collectively for the system’s branch campuses.
