Woman arrested for hindering Youngstown cops in capture of three men

Published: Thu, May 14, 2009 @ 4:50 p.m.

YOUNGSTOWN — City police have not captured the three men responsible for a grocery store robbery on the West Side, but they have arrested a woman they say is responsible for hindering the capture of those men.

Isha Butler, 19, of Tyrell Street pleaded not guilty to obstructing official business charges before Judge Elizabeth Kobly of municipal court. Butler’s attorney said she is anxious to fight the charges. Butler was released on her own recognizance.

According to reports, officers were sent to the Schenley Carryout convenience store in the 2000 block of Mahoning Avenue just before 11:30 p.m. Wednesday on a robbery call.

"Butler was released on her own recognizance."

Robbing stores is no big deal in Youngstown.

they should of held her in jail until she told the cops who the suspects are.

Awww man that's right down the road. Better close that store, they must be inviting trouble. I'd like to know what she did exactly before I get irate about her being released back to the streets to help them rob and steal some more. Hopefully she gave them up.

Rokscout, I'd bet not. Talking to the "po-po" doesn't exactly guarantee someone a long and prosperous life.

She's "anxious to fight the charges" huh? Maybe if she wasn't so "anxious to fight" with the cops in the first place, she wouldn't be in that predicament.

I am sure that if her family gets robbed or murdered that we will see her on the evening news crying and marching for peace in the city of Youngstown.

C'mon NOBS you don't think she realied the error of her ways after being arrested?
I'm being sarcastic of course. She should not have been released until she told them who the guys were. Oh and for the record could someone please put the word out that we don't need twenty five hoodlums blocking the street when school lets out, some of us like to be able to drive home without these guys surrounding our car at a stop sign and yelling stupid crap in our windows. Unrelated, I know...just making a point.

To Rokscout,

I understand your concern about hoodlums blocking the street at crosswalks. How many times have you observed some people actually slowing down as they cross in front of you, as if they want you to suffer by waiting longer for them to cross. Its as if they enjoy it. In parking lots, people will walk out in front of you, slow down and take their time while keeping an eye on you, as if to say, ha-ha, I'm making you wait. What childish behavior. It only creates bad feelings....or is that what they want to do? It is so sad our society has come to this type of behavior as it is driving us further apart.

Agreed completely Vindyak. One kid actually told me I needed to get better wheels on my M.....f.....ing car. Couldn't have been over 14 years old.
As far as the above story. I have now read the other article further describing the girls actions and believe she should be held as an accomplice. She is a grade A low life. She was clearly the "get away" car driver. Note to her though: if you are going to rob a store, don't "get away" a few hundred yards down the road and stand outside.

The corner stores should all be closed so the people don't get tempted to rob them. Robbing the stores also excaberates the drug problem. Now they have cash to buy crack. The culture escapes responsibility and society is to blame.

JAY HAS SURVEYED THE PROBLEM IN DEPTH !

I knew her, she's not a bad person at all. It's hard for women who are conditioned to stand up for men who make horrible choices.

"It's hard for women who are conditioned to stand up for men who make horrible choices."

It is only noontime but that has to be the most ridiculous thing I've read/heard today. (I'm assuming you weren't joking, if you were joking +1.)

Hmmmmmm . . . ..

I would say that "it's not hard" for women who are conditioned to stand up for men who make horrible choices.

Then I must defer to the expertise of you two. By the way, why don't you two exchange phone numbers so you can go on a date.

I wouldn't be surprised if these storekeepers don't start packing and blowing away some of these robbers to protect themselves.

I second that...no wait, I encourage that SMTE4PEARS. In fact, I wonder how long it will be before there is a full on revolt in this country against these hoodlums to take back our streets.

allstar: you are entitled to your opinion but the "I committed a crime because I am used to standing up for my man who normally makes bad choices" is a ridiculous one. There must be far better ways to defend your acquaintance than by basically calling her a puppet to some hoodlum that robs corner stores.

Guys, guys come on. Its society's fault she's like that. It's also society's fault her "man" commited a robbery too. He was peobably forced to drop out of school at a young age, run the streets, sell drugs and now needed a little bit of cash because he can't find a decent job because of his background. Don't you see that all of this is the fault of the working class people!

Isha should capitalize on the event by a rap of "I stand by my man". Who knows if she makes enough money he wont have to steal to keep them in crack.

ITS ALL GOOD !

I STAND BY MY MAN

doesnt matter what you say i is goin ta stand
until the dust settles standin by my man
doesnt matter that the law is afta him
doesnt matter what he does i know it aint sin
the love i have it will always be
the one i admire will be he
doesnt matter what you hear about his past
doesnt matter what you feelin this love is gona last

The same group may have been involved in the attempted abduction of a woman on Erie Street.

Unrelated ,but Why do young kids walk in the middle of the street then act like your the problem when you try to drive down the street??
If there are any police on the board do us all a favor and start writing tickets for these punks.

Amen, RLOH330
Just had it the other say as I mentioned in another section. 20 little hoodlums blocked the street and just carried on a conversation like I wasn't sitting there with my car idling. As they slowly parted they began yelling random things in my car windows such as "let me drive yo car man". Yet the question still gets raised, "why do people say the things they say and feel the way they feel"? LOOK AROUND HERE!

Can we burn her at the stake or does she get a "get out of jail free" card and then pass go to collect $200.00 ??

"let me drive yo car man".

Before summer is over they will have driven several cars and none of will have been purchased.
