EUCLID, Ohio (AP) — A Euclid man has pleaded not guilty to trying to put his infant son in a hot oven.
The man, 30-year-old Sammy Hunter Jr., was arraigned today in Cleveland and entered his plea to attempted murder and other charges. Bond was continued at $500,000, the court appointed an attorney and a pretrial hearing was scheduled for Monday.
The prosecutor says Hunter was high on drugs on April 28 and twice turned on the oven, then tried to place his 28-day-old son inside. Authorities say he was stopped both times by his live-in girlfriend, who is the child’s mother.
Hunter also is charged with assaulting firefighters called to the house the same day over a natural gas smell.
He already was awaiting trial on earlier charges of aggravated robbery and bribery.

Please, please, please lock this man up and throw away the key. I am nauseous after reading that.
seems like this man has a history in violence. lock him up and never let him back into society!
This is one of the worst things that I have ever heard of!! Ohhh, but you are going to have the bleeding hearts out there saying that it is not his fault because he is probably a drug addict, he has a disease and is not fully accountable for his actions. Bullcrap! Makes me wonder how this infant will react when it grows up and learns what daddy did.
