AUSTINTOWN — A township teen was caught taking an Apple computer tower from the old Austintown Middle School.
Police arrived at the former middle school on Mahoning Avenue around 2:30 p.m. Monday to find a 15-year-old male behind the old football stadium with the equipment in his possession.
The suspect told police he had entered the building by removing screws to a door on the North side of the school.
The boy was released to his mother, and advised that a breaking and entering charge could be filed once the Mahoning County Juvenile Justice Center reviews the case.

Why are there still computers just sitting in the old middle school?
Another fine product of Austintown schools. Why in the world would you break in to the school at 2:30 in the afternoon? Cmon dude talk to your buddies at <insert city school here> - they'll tell you how to do it right!
I had the same question, dmets.
My bet is that the excuse is that they don't have any money to get the old stuff removed out of the place. I can hear the begging now, "We dont have any funding, please pass the levy so we can throw trash away."
yeah old computers just siitng in a vacant school. Free pickings for all.
Those were probably some of the old Apple II's. The district wouldn't have to pay to have someone move them anyway, but those would no longer by usable by the district either. They have no salvage value. They might as well leave them there and sell them as assets with the building.
Bascially they are junk then?
If you're going to break-in while in broad daylight, at least make it profitable; rip out any remaining copper piping; sell it for scrap, and then have enough money to buy a brand new laptop!
if these computers were no longer needed and were being left to throw away as garbage then it shouldnt be theft. but however it would be tresspassing and breaking and entering. i mean common why charge someone with theft if the stuff is being tossed in to the landfills.
