WARREN — Friday’s classes in the Warren City School District have been canceled so students and staff can travel to Columbus to support the Warren G. Harding High School basketball team in its semifinal match of the 2009 boys state basketball tournament.

The game is scheduled for 5:15 p.m. at Schottenstein Center at Ohio State University.

The school board adjusted the school calendar to move the final day of classes to June 8 to ensure the district complies with the number of school days required by law.

As long as they extend the school year than I am ok with this. Otherwise it would be sending the wrong message to kids that a basketball game is more important than education.

The last time Harding went was in 1966. This is a good thing so that people can take their time and drive safely To Columbus. Traffic will be heavy around Akron-Canton area when they get about fifty miles outside of Columbus so this is a good call by the school officials. I drove down in 1966 with my friends and it was a great time.
