Electrocuted man identified

Published: Tue, June 30, 2009 @ 8:15 p.m.

GUSTAVUS — Investigators have identified the man who was killed at an electrical substation Monday morning as Robert T. Eakin, 30, of Bristol Township.

Ohio Edison and police found Eakin’s body at the substation on Stoddard Hayes Road at about 1:30 a.m. after power was knocked out to about 2,000 Ashtabula and Trumbull county residents.

He could not be immediately identified because of the severity of his burns.

Detective Michael Yannucci of the Trumbull County Sheriff’s Department said Tuesday the investigation into the fatality continues. Eakin is thought to have died while trying to steal copper at the substation.
