LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Michael Jackson, the record-breaking, sensationally gifted "King of Pop" who emerged from childhood superstardom to become the entertainment world's most influential singer and dancer, and the tabloid world's most disturbing celebrity, has died. He was 50.
A person with knowledge of the situation says Jackson died Thursday in a Los Angeles hospital. The person was not authorized to speak publicly and requested anonymity.
His death brought a tragic end to a long, bizarre, sometimes farcical decline from his peak in the 1980s, when he was popular music's premier all-around performer, a uniter of black and white music who shattered the race barrier on MTV, dominated the charts and dazzled even more on stage.

Although he was strange acting he was a musical genius. I remember when Thriller came out you couldn't buy acopy anywhere in the states and when I flew over to Germany I bought the last copy they had in the BX on base. Such a waste of musical talent. He had a gift of music and making money but he pissed it all away.
i guess that's one arrest he couldn't beat
bizzare as he may have been, remember 3 children have lost their father at a far too young age, ill remember the MJ of the 80's when he truly was the king of pop

Talented with money and I don't think that he enjoyed either. A lost soul doomed to wander the earth trying to find himself. At peace at last.
ive always like you Stan, i couldnt have said it better
(long time reader, first time writer)
sad
farrah's story is sadder
he asked for his problems! she did not
still 3 kids do have a "mother" somewhere
Very well said Stan.
I loved his music back in the 70's and 80's! He'll be missed as an artist. Not so much as a stand up person. Definitely had some emotional or mental issue's in his life!
A great musical artist, possibly the most dynamic in his Generation like Sinatra was to his Generation. Truly a Pop ICON, and his music, like Sinatra's, will be timeless, too.
"Stan" said it well.
I can still hear Michael singing, "I Wanna Be Where You Are"
"Could it be I stayed away too long, did I leave your mind when I was gone.....I wanna wanna be where you are....."
R.I.P.
One of musics greatest icons he will live on in his music and his dance moves
A true entertainer. Lets hear from one person that doesnt know the words to atleast one Jackson 5/Michael Jackson song. It ok, you can admit what you blast on the radio when noone is around. Of all the celebrities that have passed lately this one truly touched me. if my life was that much in the spotlight it might not much be much different. Sorry I can't sit on that pedestal with and think I'm so much better. Next time you have that ignorant comment to post.... Just don't. Try and have a little respect.
RIP MJ
ABC 123
RIP M.J.
And for Farrah today your with Angles, God Bless You
If i live to be 100 I remember that Farrah poster

don't really care, glad he is gone now children everywhere can fear one less pervert, and the music world will be just fine without him , if he was a no body you people would realize he was a danger to children
How did he ask for his problems? People need to stop acting like they know these celebs personally like they know their whole life story. Dont nobody but god and their close family and friends know them that well so that was ignorant as hell to even say. We all dont know everthing he went through since childhood maybe just alittle but not everything. We also dont know everything he went through as becoming an adult either.
I will say I hope him and farrah fawcett rest in peace. And as of the jackson family I hope everything turns around for them especially for those kids. It's very sad that the media puts a picture of him dead in the ambulance. Some type of respect got to give.
Just out! Micheal Jackson's last words to the paramedic before he died, "Take me to the children's hospital"
I think he was misunderstood. He had no childhood and an abusive father. Don't get me wrong, he crossed some lines where children were involved, but I don't think he molested any of them. I think he loved kids so much he couldn't help himself...there may been some underlying mental issue. Anyway, he was a great entertainer, the music world will miss him. Hopefully his kids don't end up messed up like him!
I hear that Michael Jackson has so much cosmetic plastic added to his body they are going to cremate him and turn him into legos for children to play with just like when he was alive.
YSUgrad99, I'm sorry I don't feel your compassion towards MJ, but I was physically and mentally abused by my mother's boyfriend growing up for over 10 years. I still know right from wrong. Sure he was a great entertainer, but he was also a troubled self destructive soul. His issues with children didn't just happen just once, but twice and that's what we know of.
I find it funny on here that people always bring up his issue with the children. I hope you all realize he was NEVER found guilty of anything! The first case where he settled out of court for millions. That was a scam for the parents to make money off someone famous! That has been proven. It gave way for others to try to do the same! Come on would you have settled out of court for any amount of money if your child was violated? I know there is NOWAY i would have. The parents are also to blame for putting their children in his hands. He was not mentally stable. Watch: the Jacksons: An American Dream, it lays everything out for you to why MJ was not in his right mind!
philobeto: Every person deals with things differently. You are obveriously a stronger person! I do feel had you went through that, and in many ways i do blame your mom. A parents need to protect their child! MJ was a wonderful father to his three children and ended a cycle that Joseph could not.
MJ was a GENIUS! I will always remember him for all the songs he wrote and dance moves that to this day have forever changed the music/dance industry! R.I.P Michael Jackson!
OJ was found not guilty also. Michael had some serious issues in his later years. Was he an evil man? I don't believe so but his perception of reality was distorted. Those around him were freeloading and Jackson not being in his right mind was easy to be taken advantage of. Inept plastic surgeons destroyed his facial features and his personal doctor killed him with medication. They took his money, his health and took his life. A very sad ending for a once handsome and very talented entertainer.
Why is there such a lack of compassion here? Who cares what may or may not have happened in his personal life.. A musical prodigy has passed and a life is now gone.. None of us know him or his family personally.. think about your families, and how you would feel..
I have plenty of compassion for Michael and his family but none for his doctor who killed him with medication. Jackson was exploited right to the very end. The doctor who killed him claims he is owed $300,000 . He should be sued and charged !
I dont see people getting on the fact that those kids lied. And how one of them came forward about lying on michael jackson and saying he never was molested by him and went into hiding for about 11 years.
And @ philobeto im sorry to hear that but also everyone reacts and deal with situations different. Dont nobody on this message board know everything mj and his family went through we only know alittle bit of what they said on the tv.
Personally I felt like mj was a child at heart that wouldn't hurt a fly. He did alot of positive things for people. And it's a shame how his life was and we all dont know everything he was dealing with. But yes he seemed abit off at times but he don't deserve all this disrespect from some people cracking ignorant jokes while he was alive and now while he is deceased.
A MAN CAN BUILD A THOUSAND BRIDGES AND MESS AROUND WITH 1 BOY AND WILL ALWAYS BE REMBERED AS A PEDOPHILE , NO MATTER WHAT ELSE HE DID IN HIS LIFE HE WAS A SICKO .....WOULD YOU LEAVE YOUR KID ALONE IN THE SAME ROOM WITH MJ?????
Just to be clear, OJ Simpson WAS found guilty of wrongful death and battery in a civil trial. Jackson, weird though he may have been, was never convicted in either a criminal or civil court.
MJ was a true musical genius! The industry has lost an icon! He will be remember through his music and influence in dance! My heart goes out to his children! They only saw a loving dad who adored them! My heart also goes out to his true family and true friends!
Face it, Jackson was a pervert. For those of you out there who think he was so wonderful, let me ask you this. If you were not hard up for money, would you let your 9-11 year old son have a sleep over at Jackson's house. Some of you will understand why I put in the hard up for money stipulation, some will not.
As far as whether or not he was convicted of molestation, remember that the trial took place in "the land of fruits and nuts"!
You have no clue if he did or did not do it. Why assume? You know what that makes you look like! The problem with people in the world today is they all think they know everything and what everyone does. People need to quit being so negative! Why do you think there are so many problems in the world today!
As for your comment about where the trial took place: That is a very rude comment. You are putting a stereotype on a population who doesn't deserve it at all!
You put yourself above others, some come on down and walk with everyday people and maybe you see the world in a better light!
How naive we are. In his own words he stated that he did not see a problem with young children (preferably little boys) sharing his bed with him. I guess you see that as okay.
By the way, you never did answer my question, or on second thought I believe you have!
WHO CARES?!!! I cannot believe the media is overcovering this story and missed covering the huge tax that is the cap and trade bill that was passed by the House last Friday.
Another terrific talent ruined by drugs. A real shame!
why is this crap still "newsworthy" ? isn't there a child stuck in a well in oklahoma or something?
he was a sad pathetic man who fondled little boys and had enough money to buy drugs none of the rest of us could touch...
he really wasnt a genius he just sold alot of records to lots of people
so what?
as for the freaks dressing up like him? grow up get a life! get out of your sad fantasy world!
bury him finally
the family is just as bad ..money hungrey eejits sucking the last penny they can
now thats really pathetic!
yeah charge to come to a funneral ! what a level of lowness that is
I prefer the Bible...that explains about life and death..To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord
Many choices in this life but only TWO for eternity!
Michael Jackson is the perfect example of what happens to people when they start "working" while still in elementary school. He spent his whole life trying to recapture his childhood. And, people took advantage of that. He was, however, one of the greatest entertainers ever!
just bury him who cares?
is he still dead?
Supposedly he was ~200 million in debt. If that is true, by the time the thrill wears off there will be 200 million spent by the faithful buying his records and all the memorabilia. Hopefully the people he owed money to will get paid before the family leeches get to the bundle.
