Published: Thu, June 25, 2009 @ 1:30 p.m.

BOARDMAN — Members of the township police department’s Narcotics Enforcement Unit arrested four people after searching a home Thursday at 30 Shadyside Drive.

Ed Smith, Dajuan Dukes and Ricardo Mendez, all of the Shadyside home, and William Chisom of Columbus are charged with drug trafficking and possession. No ages were available for the men.

Officers found and seized heroin, cocaine and marijuana, two handguns and an undetermined amount of cash. A 3-old child also was at the home when police arrived along with the child’s mother, who isn’t charged.

The search is part of an ongoing investigation by the narcotics unit.

It is the new Youngstown, because the drug money can now afford all the houses on the northside of Boardman that have dropped in property value due to the hoodrats in Youngstown spreading their crime spree to the Boardman area. There isn't anything left to rob and pillage in Youngstown anymore so the next logical place to go is the burbs to rob and steal. Fence in Youngstown and keep up the good work BPD.

The entire north Boardman area is serving as an extension and replacement for the south side of Youngstown. As the south side is demolished, leaving fewer available structures to make into section 8 rental units, slumlords such as Mark King will purchase more units in Boardman. The apartments near the intersection of Market and Shields are virtually housing projects now. Nearly all apartments north of RT224 are aging and depreciating, and it will be only a short amount of time before all are "ghettoed-out." Anyone with any sense of class or decency should move either to Canfield, Poland, or at least south of RT224. Boardman Schools are also showing signs of being "urbanized." North Boardman is a poor residential investment, except for rental units. A lot of profit is to be had operating section 8 rental units, and the entire "hood" is pushing steadily into Boardman.

Boardman has its share of faults, sure, dragon. But our residents dont go pistolwhipping 70 year old ladies and whilst driving away in her car yelling "have a nice day".

There is still a lot of hope for Boardman. Everyone should band together and work on the problems. Keep the police informed and let the criminals know that this will not be tolerated. Keep up the fight!

The first thing you must do is get your head out of the sand . Boardman is Youngstown not some Burb or a bedroom community like you/ I thought was was 15 years or so ago. Our schools are and have been so full of drugs and so is the malls . The cops have covered it up for so long that most of us out here thought it was true. Be sure to have a gun out here
