YOUNGSTOWN — Edna Pincham, former Youngstown school board president, community activist, and the first black woman to run for Youngstown mayor, died today.
She was inducted into the Ohio Senior Citizens Hall of Fame in May.
Pincham, 72, was the first woman to be named to a Youngstown mayor’s cabinet, the first black woman to run for mayor of Youngstown, and the first black woman elected to the Youngstown Board of Education, on which she served for 16 years, including a stint as board president.
She created the Pincham Initiative Resource Center, a volunteer organization that helps children pass the Ohio Graduation Test.

I am sorry to hear of her passing. She was a very intelligent woman. Edna would have been a far better Mayor than Jay Williams.
I met her one time. This was one woman who truly loved the city of Youngstown. God Bless Her and her family.
God Bless Edna Pincham - she used to come to my church and speak, she was really great. RIP
