Austintown schools superintendent gets Cleveland Heights post

Published: Wed, June 17, 2009 @ 6:55 p.m.

AUSTINTOWN — Austintown Local Schools will be looking for a new superintendent after it was announced Tuesday that Doug Heuer would be leaving the district.

Heuer, who has more than 25 years of administrative experience, will join the Cleveland Heights-University Heights school district in the same capacity, that district’s Web site said. He will replace Deborah Delisle, who took a position as Ohio’s Superintendent of Public Instruction.

The CH-UH Web site said Heuer plans to relocate to the Cleveland area and live in the district.

So he can live in Cleveland when he works there, but he lives in Columbus when he's supposed to work for Austintown? Mr. Heuer, from the residents of Austintown: don't let the door hit you on the way out.

Not a big defender of Mr. Heuer, but is the unsuccessful boy's football program his fault, the unsuccessful boy's basketball program his fault, the demographic changes that have occurred in the Wedgewood area that are now bringing in more former Youngstown Inner City kids that are academically underperformer's to this District his fault, the hands-tied effect he is faced with when teacher's unions dictate to him and the BOE when they come and go. Some of these items can be directed towards two "lifer's" that truly need to get another life; Ritchie and Pogany.

Let's see what his rationale is this time. He left his last job to come here to take care of his aged parents. His father just passed away, but his mother is still alive. The other jobs he interviewed for but didn't get around Columbus were so he could be closer to his sons. Neither is occuring here. Hmmm.

Well, bon voyage, Doug! You have very big shoes to fill in University Heights.

What a loser he was for Austintown. Glad to see him go.
