Ohio panty burglar gets 9 years in prison

Published: Thu, June 11, 2009 @ 2:55 p.m.

ALLIANCE, Ohio (AP) — An Ohio man has been sentenced to nine years in prison for stealing underwear from more than 20 women in a series of home break-ins going back to 2006.

Thomas Williams, 25, of Alliance pleaded guilty Wednesday to 11 felonies, including nine burglary counts. He also pleaded guilty to misdemeanor voyeurism.

Williams was arrested in April after police said a search at his home 50 miles southeast of Cleveland turned up more than 300 women’s undergarments. Police said they were led to Williams because he had used Facebook to contact some victims, who didn’t know him.

The sentence handed down by Judge John Haas of Stark County Common Pleas Court allows Williams to apply for probation after 4 1/2 years. Williams is now in counseling, his lawyer says.

Some items about this case not mentioned in this article:

This man has a six year history of this type of behavior. It has been accelerating from breaking into women's cars to steal personal items to this recent case of breaking into their homes. He also photographed these women and stalked them.

Most importantly, police also recovered a stolen .45-caliber semi-automatic pistol as well as a duffle bag that contained rope, duct tape and handcuffs.

As far as I'm concerned lock him up & throw away the key.
