General Motors intends to bring back a second shift of workers to its Lordstown complex to build the Chevrolet Cruze.
“We’re very bullish on the Cruze,” said Tim Lee, GM vice president of North American manufacturing, in a conference call with reporters today.
He added that a third shift would be added if “the product is hotter than we anticipate” but he doesn’t expect a third shift to be needed through 2012.
The complex added a third shift last year because small-car sales soared when gas prices rose. The complex was scaled back to one shift in January, however, when demand dropped off.
The Cruze is to be launched in April 2010.
Lee also said plans call for Lordstown to be the only source for the Cruze in North America, but executives are reviewing a possible second location.

The local politicians being in bed with the unions certainly does not help the situation.
Vote out all incumbents and give some conservatives a shot at bringing back this area! The Democrats have failed the citizens of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley.
The repubes had 8 years plus to get it together and did nothing....They are part of why this is happening. Wow, Youngstown is so in need of being nuked and shoveled over like the ground at the WTC's and forgotten about. As soon as I get the first unemployment check, I am heading out of here to find a place to relocate and the next few unemployment checks will help me move there. It's time to get out of here and let all of the old and lazy people have it.

So, do you have something planned to bring this about ?
Reality 101:
It's not any better in any other city in our country right now. Everyone is feeling the pinch and to some of us, it is getting tighter.
