BOARDMAN — Police and fire crews rerouted traffic along U.S. Route 224 near South Avenue for a short time Thursday because of a gas line ruptured by construction workers.
The Ohio Department of Transportation is working to widen 224 with the addition of right-turn lanes from Boardman Park Drive to just west of South.
Crews struck a one-inch line that ODOT said was mismarked, said fire Chief James Dorman. Dominion East Ohio workers arrived to fix the problem.
The Long John Silvers restaurant near the intersection was closed because of gas inside. A gas station and McDonald’s also near the intersection voluntarily shut down while the work was done.

Call before you dig, idiots!!!
Ugh again? I was out running errands the first time they did this and had to sit in traffic on Applewood Dr for over 20 minutes.
Remember to call the Ohio Utilities Protection Service (O.U.P.S.) at least 48 hours prior to starting any digging project to have your underground utility lines marked. It's fast, it's free, and it's the law!

If it was you or I, I can just imangine the fine I would get . Then the law suits from the 2 resturants
seriously...this is at least the second time
I must be reading a different story. The one I was reading right above these posts said that the line was mismarked. I just have this gut feeling that with the amount of work being done on 224 that before they started that the gas lines and water lines and sewer lines etc. were all mapped out. Now I could be wrong but I bet they were checked at least once.
Now if Dominion doesn't argue the point we will know that the mismark claim is correct. We will see. But hey, as long as we can try to blame someone it is all good.
Mismarked my butt. Hey why don't you keep hiitng lines and maybe one day you will strike oil.
