Farmdale man dies in tractor accident

FARMDALE — A 28-year-old man died in an accident in woods behind his home on Corinth Court Road, about two miles south of Farmdale and two miles north of state Route 88 in Johnston Township.

The Trumbull County Sheriff’s Department said Allen D. Stewart, of 7283 Corinth Court, was about a half-mile behind his house, hauling a large log chained to a tractor when the tractor flipped backward on him at about 11 a.m. Monday He was badly burned, and he was dead at the scene.

Stewart’s father, David L. Stewart, who lives next door, found the tractor, which was on fire, on top of his son. A police report said he went home and got a backhoe and lifted the tractor off of his son while his wife, Kelly Stewart, pulled her son free.
