Bond issue and tax levy huh? HA! The taxpayers can't even trust the BOE to hire an experienced Superintendent, do you really think we are going to give you more money? I can't wait for re-elections. 3 are up this year, lets replace them with new blood, people who actually care about this district and not just their own rear-ends.
Mr. Colaluca is an excellent choice as superintendent! He has a solid educational background and was responsible for many changes in the curriculum. As for experience---he has enough! Maybe AtownParent should run for the Board to see how thing operate.
Heuer had experience. Look at the nice job he did.
Hey Ken if he is soo good why don't you run. having experience means nothing when you don't have anytihng to back it up but losing money faster then a sinking ship and then ask for more to waste. Yeah as circullium director what did he do? make up plans for what classes there will be and what standards they will have? Well he gives his advice to the BOE so he doesn't really even do that. And hlaf the time they do sometihng else anyways. Therefore he has no expereince in running a school at all!!
$95,000 a year is completely insane for a superintendent. It's not like the school district is even doing that well financially... or academically to justify paying a superintendent such an income.
More reason to vote the levy down this November. They are wasting our money now,how is more money going to change that? It wont other then giving them even more to waste.
It's a 365 day a year job essentially...not to mention the education you have to have to even be able to apply. the district has 7 buildings. It probably has over 5000 students and a ton of teachers. Good luck getting a candidate willing to work for much less.
I think alot of us have jobs that are essentially a 365-day a year responsibility but arent making anywhere near 95k. I couldnt agree with Atown parent enough, it is time for a change on the BOE in our town! I know a few candidates that will be on the ballot in November that are going to sweep the election and get rid of the members that have been here for 30 years!
I find it pretty stupid that you have to have a doctorate to run a 5000 student school district. O well, I guess we're really seeing the results in the test scores and that's why we are falling behind compared to other countries.
so a certain level of expertise isn't really required to manage a good-sized school district?
those of you with those aforementioned 365 day a year jobs also probably don't have the level of responsibility and accountability required of this position.
i guarantee the overwhelming majority of people don't have the expertise. it's not like managing a McDonald's.
Here is one for one then, you should not be paid at all,it's a public service! Since we all know money makes you corrupt as you want more and more all the time. So no TB $95,000 is not right. That alone is a reoasn we are in the red, that and the astro turf, the bus garage, the new AMS and other things we don't really know as they don't tell us.
Metz don't forget about the brand new concession stand in the northwest corner under construction as we speak and/or the fact they want to demolish all remaining buildings in the district and build this "super campus." I think these pencil pushers need to realize the taxpayers arent going to be paying with monopoly money.
Oh they will come this Novmeber. Their plans are out of reality for sure.
