Delphi hourly retirees protest pension, health-care reductions

Published: Mon, July 27, 2009 @ 11:05 a.m.

WARREN — Hourly retirees from Delphi Packard Electric have formed Retirees United, a group that is protesting a reduction in pensions and health-care benefits.

About 60 retirees met with the media this morning to kick off their efforts. They are assembling a list of Packard retirees and are asking that retirees call the union hall at (330) 392-1591 ext. 232 or send an e-mail to maryloudever@gmail.com with a name, phone number and e-mail address.

The group also is asking retirees to write to their federal and state lawmakers and will plan protests.

It is time to hold our elected officials accountable for this failure, we have had enough talk,Tim Ryan, George Voinovich, Senator Brown and others are failures and need to be replaced by independent statesmen who are not owned by the parties and Globalist types.

AKAFR1; This is the problem , most people do not know the politicians set the policy that encourages business to leave our country, it has nothing to do with labor cost.
This has been going on now for over 30 years the incumbents that represent us now are continuing the policy of the Globalist, the only time they really relate to the people is when they are running for office.
Obama is a recent example of this, he has almost totally did a 180 on the issues he promised to pursue, from lobbyist, NAFTA, GATT, CAFTA, foreign policy, In short he lied to get in office , because he knew the discontent of the people with Bush.

So if $8.00 dollars an hour is what you are content with you should be real pleased.

Communism wins, please not China is not having this problem they have been made very successful by the traitors in both houses. those who died defending against such deserve better.

dbinnc: if all goes as GM and Delphi plan, they will be reduced to 0 many pensions will be cut in half with no hospitalization, now if you have never had this blessing you might say so-- what,,, but ask yourself honestly is this the best we can do in America? many creative men and women made this nation great we where a beacon on the hill, there was great hope, today it is mostly fear even those who now have good paying jobs live in fear of losing theirs also.
We have been duped by those who govern us, they live above the fray and pass legislation which does not effect their life styles.
It is time to go to the source and it is not unions, Unions gave us the middle class which allowed us to have many days of joy with and for our families.

China owns us today for the proverb that claims the debtor is a slave to the lender is true, only an uprising of knowledgeable people will change that..

ufosd, speaking of how the debtor is a slave to the lender. I once wrote a paper that in one part talked about "financial warfare". If you are interested in hearing how true that saying is look up what we did to England in the Suez Crisis. Look under the "end of hostilities" section if you wiki suez crisis. Its very scary when you think of what China could do to us if they threatened to dump the debt.

Wednesday, July 29, 2009 @ 9:00 AM - Meeting at Packard Music Hall - 1703 Mahoning Ave NW, Warren, OH 44483-2008

HEY GM!
Re: invent my pension!
Re: invent my health insurance!
Re: invent my life insurance!

Nearly 12,000 Delphi Packard Electric Union Retirees in the Youngstown/Warren, Ohio area are on the verge of losing all of their health insurance and life insurance, and face significant cuts in their pension. General Motors Corp. has confirmed that it doesn’t intend to continue health care for the IUE-CWA retirees, in an attempt to “re: invent” themselves out of Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

Delphi Packard Electric has also proposed turning over the pensions of packard retirees to the federal Pension Benefit Guaranty Corp., which insures pensions. Many retirees would see a pension reduction between 30% and 70% because PBGC has limits on their payout.

It’s time to organize, claim our past, claim the future and keep what is ours! Write your politicians today and stay informed by sending your e-mail addresses and
other contact information to maryloudever@gmail.com or call the union hall at 330-392-1591, ext. 232.
