Man sought for child’s beating

Published: Mon, July 20, 2009 @ 8:15 p.m.

YOUNGSTOWN — Police are looking for the man accused of brutally beating a toddler, and they want help from the public.

Police have a warrant for the arrest of Jerbrail Grhim, 19, of Campbell, charged with felonious assault in the beating of a South Side baby. The baby was listed in critical condition today at Akron Children’s Hospital.

Capt. Kenneth Centorame said anyone with information on Grhim’s whereabouts should call 911 or (330) 746-CLUE to speak to detectives involved in the case.

Centorame said it is important to understand that anyone offering Grhim assistance with food, clothing, shelter or in any other way will be charged with a crime.

The child, of Lucius Avenue, was reportedly assaulted with a wire coat hanger by Grhim, who is not related to the child. The child also was punched several times and held underwater in a bathtub.

A family friend has said the child was born in February 2008, and that Grhim had met the child’s mother two weeks ago.

He went through a lot!? Obviously you have not gone THROUGH much schooling! I don't care what you or anyone else has gone through. You never have a right to beat a child. We've all been through a lot, especially lately. You don't see any of us civilized humans acting this way. Don't try to get us to feel sorry for the guy. If he's had more than he can handle, there are people who can help. But after what he has done, he can rot in prison. Hopefully the folks in there will give him the beat down he deserves. If you are helping him hide out, I hope you rot in prison too!

It is my personal opinion that when these people are found guilty in a court of law that they should be killed immediately after the verdict. Preferably in a public place where people can buy snacks and beverages to fund more prosecution of these idiots.

this is my cousin. i feel sad for the mother. the friend don't know how long they knew each other. it's kinda the mother fault for leaving her son with him anyway. my family is sad for him cause he going to jail. so befor you say anything its not your promble so get over it. and just don't make the same mistake. and if she really knew him that well than she would have know he had issues. also our family tell the truth most of the time so don't go pointing fingers at someone you hardly know. he lost his brother not to long ago cause someone killed him. so yes his life is f*cked up rite now. but who can say thiers not i sure can but i learn from my mistakes so i won't make the same one twices. thats just how life goes. i'm not saying he made the rite choice. who knew went on in that house what if one of the kids did it im not saying they did but what if they did.it not like she had cameras all around the house. the kids could have lied. they was probably jealous. you will never know.

ive had a family member murdered, a classmate die in high school, my girlfriend die at age 29, lost 2 kids, have had other friends die tradgically and have a friend on ohios death row. so i guess now its ok if i go out and beat a baby because of my past issues, right? the mother may have been wrong for letting him watch the baby but the bottomline is he beat the kid and he should have known better. marvallous keene also lost his brother due to murder so i guess his 6 person killing spree was justified too huh? well with this mentality we will certainly have a death row for a long time. PS HOW WAS MY SPELLING IN THIS BLOG AND DID I USE WORDS PROPERLY? others have not
