Mount Carmel Festival offers food, fun, fireworks

The festival will culminate with fireworks Thursday.

GIRARD — The annual Mount Carmel Festival will be Sunday through Thursday at the Italian Fraternal Home grounds, 33 W. Wilson Ave.

The event is sponsored by the Girard Mount Carmel Festival Committee, co-chaired by Raymond Ragozzine Jr. and Myron Esposito. Many committee members are working on the festival.

Events include food, vendors and games for children and adults on the festival grounds nightly from 5 to midnight.

As a precursor to the formal start of the festival, the band “The Rage” will play from 8 to 11 p.m. Saturday on the festival grounds.

Entertainment on the actual festival days include:

USunday: Girard Community Band, 5 to 7 p.m.; Cleveland Flats, 8 to 11.

UMonday: DeeJay “Steve,” 5 to 7 p.m.; Frank Gallo, 8 to 11.

UTuesday: Mike Roncone, 8 to 11.

UWednesday: First Degree, 8 to 11.

The annual parade from the festival grounds rounds to St. Rose Church will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, with a church service at 11 a.m. The parade will march back to the festival grounds, and the Girard Community Band will perform from 5 to 7 p.m., followed by St. Magarete’s Blue Cross Band from 8 to 10:30 p.m.

The festival will end with a fireworks display from 10:30 to 11 p.m. by Zambelli Fireworks Internationale of New Castle, Pa.
