MEDIA, Pa. (AP) — A Pennsylvania man jailed for 14 years in a divorce dispute is set to be released from prison.
H. Beatty Chadwick has been jailed in suburban Philadelphia since 1995 for contempt of court stemming from the contentious split.
Chadwick is accused of hiding $2.5 million from his ex-wife and has been jailed for not disclosing its whereabouts. Chadwick maintains he lost the money in bad investments.
Judge Joseph Cronin of Delaware County Common Pleas Court determined today the continued incarceration of Chadwick would not result in complying with the order.
Chadwick’s lawyer, Mike Malloy, said his client was to be released from the prison in Delaware County today.

Wow ! Such fortitude ! It looks like the ex will have to make money the old fashioned way !
14 years for that? Yet we let violent criminals out after a couple days around here!
Stan you are right, all about equality these days? I say, if the guy makes all the money and then there is a divorce....see ya, you don't get his money....get your own.
THAT JUST SHOWS HOW THE COURT SYSTEM FAVORS WOMEN. THAT JUDGE SHOULD BE DISBARRED FOR ALLOWING THAT TO CONTINUE FOR A RIDICULOUS AMOUNT OF TIME-IF HE WAS THE SENTENCING JUDGE. MY HAT'S OFF TO THE GUY--HE STUCK BY HIS GUNS!! NOW PUT THE EX IN THERE FORTHE SAME AMOUNT OF TIME SO SHE CAN EXPERIENCE WHAT SHE CAUSED.
Okay, I do agree that he shouldn't have been jailed for something like this...that was very unfair...but to say that a woman that stays home, raises the kids, keeps the house livable and has to have sex (when most times we really don't want to) when a divorce happens we have to walk away with nothing because we didn't work outside the home. Well, a little insight, when in my house the roles were reversed, hubby said that he would work ten jobs before having to do that again and now understands why the woman should get half in a divorce even if she didn't work. Then let's take the woman that works too and still comes home and does 95% of the work at home too. It's not that the system favors women, it's just that they finally saw the hard work it takes to maintain a home. Let's see you men do that and still have your opinions. Wash clothes, attend every event for the kids, five kids, cook dinner six days a week, keep a house that has kids, dogs and company clean on a constant basis, stay good looking, and work 40 + hours a week. And then tell me I can't get half when you want to leave!!!! Get real!!

Sorry, but the guy spending 14 years in prison has my sympathy .
Shouldn't have so many kids there supermom. I'm SICK of hearing how every woman that stays home works harder than men do. I'm sure some do, but not THAT many. You say you have a job too? So then, if you get divorced then keep working, you get nothing from him. Sounds fair to me.
