Crash kills one person, hurts another

HUBBARD — One person died and a second is in serious condition after a one-car accident on U.S. Route 62 in Hubbard Township.

Alessa Norris, 16, of state Route 7 Hubbard, was pronounced dead at the scene after the car she was riding in stuck a metal pole in the median of the highway at about 11:15 p.m. Sunday. The driver of the vehicle, Joshua Thompson, 18, of Masury, lost control of the vehicle due to poor road conditions, a police report said. He remains in serious condition at St. Elizabeth’s hospital.

The Warren Post of the State Highway is conducting an investigation of the accident. Neither the driver nor the passenger were wearing their seatbelt.
