MERCER COUNTY \ Court action
The following people were sentenced last week in Mercer County Common Pleas Court. According to court documents:
Marilyn Buxton, 28, of Reno Road, Hermitage, placed on three years’ probation for resisting arrest and possession of a controlled substance, both misdemeanors. On April 18, she struck a Southwest Mercer County Regional police officer and as a result, was shot by a Taser by another officer. She also had three Vicodin pills when arrested. The incident took place at Circle K, 3108 Main St., West Middlesex.
Frank Stefanovsky, 22, of Parkview Drive, Clark, placed on two years’ probation and ordered to make restitution for misdemeanor theft by unlawful taking. On April 18 or 19, he took a Playstation 3, four games and two wireless controllers from a Jefferson Avenue, Sharon, residence.
Jeffrey Valentino, 28, of Ashton Road, Sharon, given a suspended one- to two-year sentence and placed on two years’ probation for misdemeanor retail theft. He also was ordered to make restitution. On Oct. 27, 2006, he took socks and a hat valued at $15 from TJ Maxx, 2465 E. State St., Hermitage.
Lise Yankevich, 55, of Mercer Avenue, Wheatland, placed on two years’ probation for misdemeanor retail theft. On March 31, 2008, she took a purse and jewelry valued at $45 from Rite Aid, 700 Sharon-New Castle Road, Farrell.
Katherine Yova, 27, of New Castle, placed on two years’ probation and ordered to make restitution for a consolidated misdemeanor count of passing bad checks. On March 18, 2007, she passed a bad check for $428 at Grove City County Market, Pine Grove Plaza, Pine Township. On March 31, 2007, she passed another one for $203 at the same store and then April 3, 2007, another for $88.
Adam Zola, 19, of Hummingbird Lane, Sharpsville, placed on two years’ probation and ordered to make restitution for possession of a firearm with an altered manufacturer’s number, a misdemeanor. On Nov. 6, 2007, at his residence, he scratched the serial number off the plate of a stolen Ruger 9 mm pistol.
