Four police departments work to nab Boardman man charged with assaulting police officer

Published: Sat, January 3, 2009 @ 6:52 p.m.

YOUNGSTOWN — Four police departments converged on the city’s East Side to apprehend a man who fled after elbowing a Campbell police officer who spotted him squatting suspiciously behind a payday cash advance business, police said.

Patrolman Ryan Bloomer of the Campbell Police Department reported spotting the suspect, Dashawn L. Hayden, 32, of Aravesta Avenue, Boardman, squatting behind Purpose Money, 669 McCart- ney Road, Campbell, wearing all black clothing at 7:15 p.m. Friday.

On Thursday evening, a cash advance employee had called police to report someone hiding near the business, but the suspect was gone before police arrived.

As the patrolman approached, the suspect walked away, crossing McCartney Road into Youngstown after the patrolman ordered him to stop, the police report said.

When Bloomer caught up with Hayden in a drug store parking lot and asked him why he was behind Purpose Money, Hayden reportedly said he was there to go to the bathroom.

When the patrolman asked if Hayden had any weapons on him, Hayden elbowed the patrolman, who drew his firearm, told Hayden he was under arrest, and ordered him to the ground, the police report said.

Hayden then pulled out an airgun and a two-way radio and ran through Youngstown’s streets with the patrolman in pursuit, but he lost sight of Hayden, the report said.

Dashawn L. Hayden was just trying to get a payday loan. When he saw the police he darted behind purpose money to relieve himself. Ah the effects the law has on the scumbags. Sorry Jay I meant constituents.

JAY HAS A PLAN
