YOUNGSTOWN — A 20-year-old Campbell woman who was getting a DVD from a rental box in the Walgreen parking lot on McCartney Road refused to be robbed, reports show.
The woman told police two young men, one with a gun, came up behind her around 8 p.m. Wednesday and demanded her purse. She told them she would not give them anything. The gunman said he’d shoot her, and she said go ahead.
The men then fled, police said.

She is very, very lucky. This is a horrible idea. Give up the cash instead of challenging someone to shoot you. If they were trying to kidnap her, that's different, but just give up the cash for heaven sake.
that's balls. but then again it shows how gutless these youngstown thugs are.
Thank God he didnt shoot her, well he had a gun so he is a gutless loser. Here is a novel idea........get a job! Im sure McDonalds and Burger King accross the street are hiring.
Ah how great. Young woman can't even rent a movie in this beloved day and age without getting a gun stuck in her face. Remember though "WE are a nation of cowards" according to the new AG. This downward spiral is dizzying!
I have to agree with Allstar...a few years ago when I was living in NYC, a young woman was shot and killed on the Lower East Side after being accosted by a couple of young thugs. They demanded money and she and her fiance brushed them off. She then yelled something to the effect of "What are you going to do? Shoot us?" and one of them shot her in the chest. They eventually caught the kid who fired the gun who, if memory serves, was only 14 years old. Here's a link to one of the articles about it:

I am not completely sure I believe this story...why does the Vindicator chose to print these one-sided tales? They only inflame the prejudices of some, and confirm the ill-founded fears of others.
Perhaps someone DID approach this woman - but with a gun? I wonder......and I bet the police do too.
I would have to assume the men must not have had a real gun. Maybe it was a BB gun. Or the men were rookies and did not really intend to shoot her. Or, they did not have any bullets in it. Often times, when someone points a gun at you, you do not spend much time studying the gun, you focus on the person and what he is saying. I know from experience. If this happened to me today, I would recognize a real gun immediately.
She was lucky. A dangerous thing for her to do, never-the-less.
