VIENNA — The president of a Ohio Airships, a company that built a prototype of a blimp-like aircraft that he hopes will some day take over a part of the freight-moving industry around the world, gave a presentation today to the Western Reserve Port Authority.
Robert Rist of Mantua told the port authority board, which runs Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport here, he would need $300,000 and use of the airport in order to complete testing on the prototype, known as a Dynalifter, and take preliminary steps to begin production.
John Masternick, authority chairman, said later he was not aware that Rist would be asking for $300,000 and said he didn’t know where the authority would get the money. Presumably the port authority would need to acquire a grant, he added.

Do we have STUPID written on our foreheads? If you do not remember, let me remind you of Commuter Aircraft back in the 1980's.
Going back even farther, remember British Airships that proposed a blimp manufacturing facility here, I think this was suippossed to be at Lansdown. Or, more recently, the Indoor Race Track near the airport. How much money did we waste on that pipe dream? What about the Ronnenburg Brewery proposed in the 70s?? How gullible are we?
You guys don't know what you are talking about. Airships are being used right now. What kills me is the mahoning Valley is now a depressed area and you guys want to shoot the project down that will bring jobs that are desperately needed. You can't depend on GM to save the area and maybe you might see some steel manufacuring come back but you got to look ahead and find jobs that people can make a decent living at with good pay. This sounds like a good deal to me.
