YOUNGSTOWN — Youngstown State University’s Lincoln Avenue parking deck could be coming down in early 2010.
The university’s Board of Trustees has approved funding the demolition of the 1,278-space garage, known as M-2, and its replacement with a 375-space surface parking lot as part of the $47 million the board is borrowing to finance various campus improvement projects.
The tentative timetable for the demolition shows April 2010 as the target date to begin the parking lot project, although that could change.

Umm... parking on campus is horrible already with the few spaces there are currently... and they want to knock this and lose almost 1,000 spaces for a stupid parking lot? They need to build a modern deck pronto.
Parking at YSU is not as much an issue as everyone says. 3 large parking lots can be found on 5th Ave as well as the deck on Wick. What people fail to see is the HUGE lot that is virtually empty everyday that sits on the service road near the track. Everyone complains how bad parking is but in reality they are simply to lazy to walk five or ten minuets to get to class. Imagine if these people went to Ohio State would they expect to park two seconds away from their class there? The Deck on Lincoln is in terrible shape and in my opinion the university should concentrate on putting up the buildings that will draw students (the new business school and WATTS)
