YOUNGSTOWN — A defendant in an automobile dealing fraud scheme has been sentenced to three years’ probation and ordered to perform 200 hours of community service.
Gregory A. Harvey, 37, of South East River Road, Berlin Center, drew the sentence Thursday from Judge John M. Durkin of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court.
Harvey, who had no prior criminal record, pleaded guilty in December to three felony counts of theft; and the prosecution dropped 24 more theft counts and 11 title offenses charged against Harvey.
If he violates the terms of his probation, Harvey will go to prison for 18 months on each theft count, the judge warned.
The judge also ordered Harvey to make restitution to victims for any losses not covered by a civil lawsuit filed by the Ohio Attorney General’s office. That suit has already obtained some restitution payments, Judge Durkin said.
“I’ll make every effort to make it right with them,” Harvey said of the victims. “I will do my best to make restitution,” he said, apologizing for his actions.
Harvey has already committed his own money to try to cover some of the victim’s losses, according to defense lawyer, Ronald Yarwood. “He has genuine remorse,” Yarwood added.

Genuine remorse? Yeah right.
He has too many charges to be genuinely remorseful. He's only remorseful because he got caught.
Not bad ... he gets 200 hours community hours for all these felonies (38 in total ) which most are droped ) ....wonder who he knows ???? I need friends like that ....when in a bind ...just drop a dime , and walk away all but free !!!!!
“He has genuine remorse,” Yarwood added.
He has nothing of the sort. He will be laughing the whole time he is doing his community service.
The Youngstown judicial system is a joke. same as the mayors office, the city council, and the judges who want to sue their own city.
This guys face should be plastered all over his neighborhood with the words I AM A CRIMINAL written underneath.......
What a joke! This Harvey is a weanie. If Judge Kirchbaum had done the sentencing in this case, this "piece of prison delicacy" would have gotten the Maximum penalty; bending over for a few years in the 'Big House" rolling back bed sheets in lieu of odometers.
Hmm... Harvey and car fraud, thought I've seen that before?!?!? I guess things just don't change.
Justice is still easily purchased in the valley. Nothing ever changes. The revolving door of justice for the benefit of the lawyers is kept intact.
