YOUNGSTOWN — Two men were charged about 1:30 a.m. Sunday outside Jay Jay’s bar on Market Street after a second night of fighting.
Police charged Eric D. Kaiser, 21, of Girard, with misdemeanor counts of disorderly conduct and obstructing official business.
Police said that when they arrived, a shirtless Kaiser was on the sidewalk and was trying to get back into the bar to fight another person.
Ross J. Harris, no age or address available, arrived and tried to get around police to fight bar patrons on the sidewalk, according to police.
Harris told police he was not going to talk to them. Police then tried to stop him. Kaiser attempted to push officers away from Harris, police said.
Police then arrested both men.
Kaiser was then charged. Harris was given a minor misdemeanor citation on a disorderly conduct charge.
Police early Saturday arrived to find several hundred drunken people outside the bar and a 19-year-old man, also outside, who said another man had broken his leg.
Police said the man was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center and told to press charges if he wanted to.

hahahahah i <3 jjs
Well the junkies and thugs from the cell had to go somewhere, right?
You know, I almost left the same exact comment earlier.
lol, that's what happens at a sausage-fest bar like jj's where there aren't enough girls to go around.
Its not really a party till a dude from Girard pops his shirt off and wants to fight, is it?
You would think all the Youngstown bars would be "by the book" at least for a while after Police padlocked "The Cell". This proves that there is too much money to be made by the underage bars for them to follow the law.
Shut 'em all down before someone's 17 or 18 year old daughter crashes & dies on her way home back to the suburbs at 3 a.m.
Obviously hte bar doesn't flag people if they ar edrunk so maybe they should be shutdown for awhile.
I say tear all those crummy bars down and build a playground... maybe a Sheetz?
They should just tear down all of Youngstown that isn't worth keeping and start over...
First of all, can the facts be any more wrong on this article? Check again, whoever wrote this.....SEVERAL HUNDRED PEOPLE??????? REALLY????? LOL!!! This newspaper is a joke......
UUUmmmmm......maybe you mistook the number of "drunken" people outside the bar for the number of crack heads and prostitutes and homeless people that were walking around....something that needs a lot more attention drawn to it than local businesses who bring revenue to the city.....
This bar seems to be a maojt problem spot. Prehaps they would be smart to order shut down as obviuly beer and some eman people do not mix.
"something that needs a lot more attention drawn to it than local businesses who bring revenue to the city"
If there was a ecstacy stand downtown, that generated a lot of money downtown, would that be alright since it's generating money but completely illegal? Serving 400 kids a night is no better. Then people wonder why there are nightly fights happening there.
I agree with you, punch.
Red's just mad that The Cell is still closed.
:-(
This bar has a shelf life of maybe 2 more weeks and then will be shut down
Take my word for it
SHUT IT DOWN
How would an ecstasy stand generate money for the city without paying taxes? Your whole premise is retarded.
And stop with the "crackheads and hookers" bs. The real problem in this city after dark are you scumbags from the suburbs coming here to drink underage and buy drugs. Keep your delinquent behavior in Austintown and Boardman.
first of all there wasnt several hundred people fighting get your facts straight there was a fight and it was 5 on 1 and someone had a beer bottle broke over the head inside the bar i was there and saw it all. so dont shut them down keep that rat hole down the road called "the cell" shut down cause all that place was. was a fight club
Oh thanks srt for clearing that up, since it really makes so much difference.
BUT DO YOU REALIZE... the people that went to that 'rat hole' (no disagreement in the name) can no longer go to the 'rat hole.' So do you know where they are headed next? Jay Jay's, Mickeys, etc.
So until you grow up and realize that spending the weekends in the bar isn't all that it's cracked up to be, have fun watching all of the fights that are going to ensue until the next bar opens that will cater to minors. You can provide us all of the nightly updates about each fight, too.
Another classy youngstown establishment! I can't entirely blame the bar for this problem. These kids have parents, who obviously have no idea what their kids are doing or what their capable of! A criminal record should make them proud of their parenting!
I didn't see any mention of "kids" in this article. The youngest was a 19 year old man. Granted, too you to drink, but still an adult. What control do you think parents should have over their adult children?
Enough control to keep their children from doing foolish crap. Most 18 and 19 year olds are living at home. Being a high school senior doesn't make them rational adults.
Let's see now...payday was the 6th and umm...the next payday is the 20th. Things will be quiet until the 20th.
somebody should call Great White and see if they can play a show at every bar in the uptown....
Hey allstar, I bet it's all the white kids from the suburbs that steal everything from the mall and break into cars in the WallMart parking lot as well. I'd be glad to take the trade of keeping all the white kids in the suburbs that cause all of Youngstown's "problems" for the real criminals, crooks and thieves who come to Boardman and are ruining the township.
That Great White comment is priceless.
I forgot one more thing allstar, delinquent is a term for acts committed by those UNDERAGE. Once your 18, there's no such thing as delinquent behavior, it's then dubbed CRIMINAL BEHAVIOR.
A Girard guy was outside with his shirt off? Maybe he thought it was Jay Jay's House of Gays!
Aren't there enough lame dude-fest bars in Girard? Do they have to come to Youngstown?
Shut the place down and open up a Mixed Martial Arts training gym instead, then all these wanna be tough guys can find out how to really fight when they're not loaded on booze and bud and who knows what. Then they can make money fighting instead of going to jail for it.
the cell is notorius for serving minors
So is any bar that has ever been where Jay Jay's currently is, as well as many others in Youngstown. What's your point?
So now that we've established where the d-bag's hang out. Where are the females at in the valley these days?
The bar location has had a horrible history of fights, underrage drinking, breaking the law.
It is going to get shut down, let it go
Jay Jay’s bar is a huge segment of Youngstown's culture. They exist because of the support of their customers.
Jay jays is mild compared to the cell. The cell had more fights in one night than i seen at jay jays in 10 visits. Alcohol causes fights, its a bar for young people, the difference is the cell attracted more dangerous characters.
'Eric,', the article did mention under age drinking taking place. That means kids!!!!
