1985: Bill passed allowing local school districts to ban paddling
1989: Bill passed requiring districts to report how many children were paddled and how many times they were paddled.
1993: Bill passed prohibiting spanking and other forms of physical discipline unless a school board follows several procedures before voting to allow it. Parents in those districts may refuse to have their children paddled.
