Area Denny’s offering free Grand Slam eats on Tuesday

Published: Mon, February 2, 2009 @ 12:00 p.m.

Area Denny’s restaurants have extra eggs and extra servers on hand Tuesday as they prepare to give away a free meal to anyone who get in the door.

The restaurant chain used the biggest marketing stage in the world — the Super Bowl — to invite everyone to a free Grand Slam breakfast from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday.

“We’re expecting lines out the door the whole time,” said Penny McCormick, assistant manager at the Denny’s in Boardman.

For more information, see Tuesday’s Vindicator or www.vindy.com.

This is going to be one big mess. There will be more people coming out of the wood work to get a free meal. they better have a truck load of eggs bacon and sausage or the y will tear the place down brick by brick.

This is going to bad. Worse than the Papa John's disaster. We'll probably hear of a shooting or two.

Extra Boardman police? What about extra Austintown police?

Grump, you do realize there's also a Denny's in Austintown, right?

Don't worry Grump, they'll be there.......there are those who will make it a 3 meal day moving across the area. Denny's has no clue what they are letting themselves in for. They will probably announce they they are closing all restaurants forever at 3:00.

Free breakfast today? Did they raise the price for a cup of coffee to $4.00? There's nothing like eating a meal with 200 gawkers standing in line waiting for their turn.

HAPPY + SAD

HAPPY - that old-fashion giveaway promotions still work. Great marketing by Denny's.

SAD - so many people are so broke they lined up for a $6 breakfast — in the suburbs!

HAPPY - This might inspire other business owners to try something aggressive also.

SAD - I didn't get my Slam!!
