CAMPBELL — Mayor George Krinos spent some time after Christmas talking with residents about their wish lists for the city.
Krinos had an informal meeting tonight with those concerned about a proposed landlord registration fee and other issues. The mayor said a monthly informal meeting with the people is written into the city’s charter.
Krinos sought input from landlords as legislation is still pending.
He had suggested requiring landlords with properties in the city pay an annual registration fee of $1,000 per unit. A portion of the money would go toward funding loans for people to put down payments on homes.

Before Mayor's or council should put forth registration fees the vote at the meetings by the people should say whether the fee should or should not be passed. People should also realize that the cost of apartment rent may increase so make sure that the people understand whether they can afford an increase should the registration fee pass.
I don't know about you, but paying another $100 a month to live in Campbell will only chase more people away. The Landlords will immediately pass any fee increase passed on to the tenants. I doubt these tenants can afford that.
As usual - another dumb DEMOcrook idea!!! Mayor George is in the same I don't know what I'm doing mold as Mayor Jay when it comes to revenue raising ideas.
"He had suggested requiring landlords with properties in the city pay an annual registration fee of $1,000 per unit."
The mayor and his cronies need some extra money for themselves . They have no shame in fleecing the public . So what if rents would have to go up . The people of Campbell love their mayor but not that much !

...Then let them leave! Renters are ruining that City. People that own homes in Campbell, like members of my family, are what make Campbell a decent place to live. Maybe Mayor George is trying to put these slumlords out of business? The Crim Rentals will now all have to move to Boardman and Youngstown to be profitable.
GOHEAD GEORGE!
Taxpayer supported Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac announced $42 million in bonuses paid to company executives this year. The President just guaranteed more taxpayer funds to run another real estate scam on the people of Campbell....cheap money brings in slumlords.
Reality crushes realty.
Mayor Krinos needs to do whatever it takes to clean up this small town. I work and pay taxes to the City of Campbell and would love my money to go to city cleanup instead of babysitting the non contributing members of society. People need to become responsible for themselves and not always waiting for government to give them more .
Just because people rent doesn't mean that they don't pay city income tax. A lot of people rent and have jobs their not all section 8 and the extra $100.00 a month will cause these people to leave then what r u left with?
What's the mayor going to do next, try to pass a law whereby landlords can't raise their rents to pass this $1,000 fee on to tenants?
There were only 15-20 people at the meeting last night. We need to get the word out so more will attend these town hall meetings. I hope that these meetings will become a regular thing so more issues can be addressed. I hope that attendance at council meetings will improve because we have to keep council on their toes. The time for change has come. Give our mayor a chance, after all, the last mayor didn't do much for us. Keep in mind that there is always another election.
You know I live in campbell I work and have worked a long time I don't rent maybe Krinos should instead charge a penalty for landlords who have less than respectful renters? I am tired of owning my home here and having some bad renters disturbing the neighborhood.
