Trumbull Dems to replace Hubbard mayor, elections post

HUBBARD — The Trumbull County Democratic Party Central Committee will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday in Hubbard City Council chambers to fill the position of Hubbard mayor.

Mayor Art Magee resigned effective Dec. 12 because of health problems.

Christ Michelakis, Trumbull County Democratic Party chairman, said the 11 precinct committee members from Hubbard get to vote on the position. Michelakis said he’s aware of four people interested in the job, including George Praznik, a former Hubbard mayor.

Magee’s term expires at the end of 2011.

The central committee will also meet Jan. 5 to recommend an appointment to the Trumbull County Board of Elections. Michelakis’ term on the elections board expires March 1, and Michelakis is seeking to return to the board, he said.

Michelakis filled the last two years of the unexpired term of Barbara Katzenberger.
