Remember our soldiers at the holidays

Published: Sat, December 19, 2009 @ 5:21 p.m.

LEAVITTSBURG — The employees at Liberty Tax Service, 2919 state Route 5, with help from the community, individuals and organizations, have collected more than 150 holiday cards to send to men and women in uniform overseas.

“Our hope is that this brings a little holiday cheer to our soldiers and help to remind them that we are thinking of them back here at home,” said Jennifer Stocker, owner of Leavittsburg’s Liberty Tax Service.

Earlier this year her office collected more than 1,500 cell phones for the Cell Phones for Soldiers program which provides calling cards to U.S. troops so they can call home.

Beginning Jan. 2, the office will begin collecting homemade Valentines for soldiers. Anyone interested in participating in that project is invited to e-mail Gail at libertytax44430@neo.rr.com or call Anthony at (330) 898-1130.
