Published: Fri, December 18, 2009 @ 12:00 a.m.

STAFF REPORT

Post offices in the Youngstown and 444 ZIP code service area will be open Christmas Eve but will shorten retail lobby hours, some closing as early as noon.

Customers should check with their local post office for its Dec. 24 hours. Customers also may call 1 (800) ASKUSPS for information about specific post offices.

The main office, 99 S. Walnut St., will be open until 2 p.m. Christmas Eve; Poland Branch, 125 W. McKinley Ave. and Cornersburg Station, 3375 Canfield Road, will be open until 5 p.m. that day.

Offices in the 444 ZIP code area that will maintain normal retail operations are: Burghill, 5041 state Route 7; Canfield, 44 N. Broad St.; Fowler, 3455 Youngstown Kingsville Road and Kensington, 11011 state Route 644.

Mail will be delivered Dec. 24. There will be no mail delivery Christmas Day, although express mail will be delivered in most major metropolitan areas. Normal delivery and retail operations resume Dec. 26.

In addition, mail should be deposited into blue collection boxes by the last collection time noted, or noon, which ever is earlier, for pickup Dec. 24.
