CANFIELD — Ex-U.S. Rep. James A. Traficant Jr., mulling a political comeback after seven years in federal prison, will announce Thursday something that “will be of significant value to a lot of people,” his communications director said.
Will Traficant declare he’s running for Congress?
“He’ll be talking about Congress,” said Dennis Malloy, Traficant’s communications director. “Congress is one issue. But he said, ‘I’ll have other things to discuss.’”
Malloy said today he doubts Traficant will make an announcement on his political future Thursday. This will be the first press conference the former congressman is having since his Sept. 2 release from prison.
The reason for Malloy’s doubts is Traficant and his advisers are discussing what congressional district — the 17th, represented by U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan, a Niles Democrat; or the 6th, represented by U.S. Rep. Charlie Wilson, a St. Clairsville Democrat — he’d run in should he decide to be a candidate.

Excellent ! Lots of material will be available to discuss !
Does the Vindicator cover all ex-con news confererences or just this idiot who refuses to go away? Why is he having a press conference and why should we care? What sort of power does he have that anyone should be listening to him? That must be why there are so many criminals in politics here - your pretty much guaranteed as much free press as the Vindicator will print - and obviously they will print everything.
Clearly this has got to the elusive toupee admission, right?
Jim: Give America a Christmas present and announce your candidacy for the US Senate seat now held by that renegade Voinovich and sought by another fishy renegade. Whatever you decide to do, may God continue to empower your resurrection so that We, The People may begin to relive America the Beautiful.

Will he change his voter registration from Democrat to nonpartisan?
...this way he keeps his options open
This will be another black eye for our valley. The national press will cover this because where else other then here could a scum-bag ex-con still garner enough support to propose running for office. This is why these elected officials here keep getting in trouble, because there is very little repercussion from the public. Instead of getting out of prison and coming home in grace with their heads hung down. These dirt-bag jail birds come home to a heros welcome. I have been wondering, why didnt Jimbo the excon disgraced politico tell the people who raised all that money to throw a party for his release from a mental hospital to ;use rhw funds for a party for returning vets who laid down their lives and left their families to go overseas to protect us. You nimrods claim hes a man of the people. Hes nothing but a venal, self-centered, self-serving, waiting to get in trouble again ego-kook. You all deserve each other.

Former Washington, D.C., mayor Marion Barry was famously re-elected after he was caught on camera smoking crack and sentenced to jail.
Harold Washington became Chicago's first black mayor, even though he had been convicted of failing to pay taxes.
In Milwaukee, alderman Michael McGee — who has not been convicted of a crime — is running a competitive bid for re-election from his jail cell, where he has been held for nearly a year pending trial on felony charges.
A registered sex offender made national news recently when he announced his candidacy for mayor of a Dallas suburb. "I don't expect anybody in the public to condone what I did and I don't expect anybody to forgive what I did," Brian Sliter, 42, told the Associated Press.
and on and on.......
Lets hope that he'll be announcing that he has decided to return to prison and run for "Warden", because he now realizes that he was more appreciated there while incarcerated, than coming back to "The Land That Time Forgot".
Fresh blood with new ideals is the way to go for Youngstown and the surrounding areas. Please do not be swayed by those who want to bring back the politicians of the past.
My Moniker says it all as per my feelings toward Jimbo Traficant. But I would support him to the end if he ran against Tim Ryan. A new low for Timmy. Please Jim I would no longer be sick of you!
Let him run. Nobody but the insane would vote for him and the feds will pull out the rest of what they have on him and send him back to stir.
Jimbo - run and let's get that worthless Timmy ryan out of there.
