BIROS UPDATE: Killer dies by lethal injection

LUCASVILLE —Convicted Trumbull County murderer Kenneth Biros died at 11:47 a.m. today strapped to a table at the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility after becoming the first person in the U.S. to be put to death by a single lethal injection rather than the three-stage method.

Biros was convicted for the Feb. 8, 1991 murder of Tami Engstrom near Biros' Brookfield Township home.

An autopsy showed that Engstrom had suffered 91 injuries before she died. She was beaten, sexually mutilated and dismembered, her body parts being found in two Pennsylvania communities — a 180-mile radius — and in the trunk of Biros’ car.
