Sen. Ted Kennedy dies at 77

Sen. Ted Kennedy, patriarch of one of the most powerful political families in American history and long-time "liberal lion" of the Democratic Party, died late Tuesday night at his home in Hyannis Port, Mass.
Kennedy, 77, had been battling brain cancer for over a year.

We aren't a true democracy, we're a republic. Rule by law and not by the whims of the people. If we were truely democratic all you need is 50.01% to do anything you want.... hence, Mob rule. Our history classes have been failing to point out the flaws of democracy in it's purest form and do not stress enough that we are a republic and the benefits of it.
If we were a democracy a president would need the popular vote to win, not the electoral college. (people that are socialistic stress democracy as an American principle when in fact we aren't supposed to be completely democratic, the Constitution is perhaps one of least democratic things we have as it creates a republic and not a democracy... we aren't supposed to be choosing even our senators)
