Ex-Trumbull Commissioner Tsagaris sentenced to house arrest

AKRON — Former Trumbull County Commissioner James Tsagaris today was sentenced in U.S. District Court to one year of house arrest and three years’ probation for failing to report a $36,000 loan he received from an area businessman.

Justin J. Roberts, a U.S. attorney, refused to discuss the case after court — or say who the businessman was.

Tsagaris of Howland Township, 75, a Democrat, was a county commissioner from 1999 to 2007.

Imagine that if it would have been an ordinary person and not a politician in the federal system they would be doing time
